As you may have heard, on the first day of Joseph R. Biden’s presidency, he announced a wide array of executive orders, many of which have significant and far-reaching effects. Among those executive orders is one regarding extending eviction and foreclosure moratoriums during the COVID-19 pandemic. As you know, many people throughout the United States have lost their jobs because of the pandemic, and as a result, they do not currently have the funds to support their families and stay in their homes. Of course, this is certainly welcome news to all those who find themselves in this situation, and if you are someone who is facing the prospect of foreclosure, you can, at least for a moment, breathe easy. Please continue reading and speak with our knowledgeable Rockland County foreclosure defense attorney to learn more about the moratorium extension and how our firm can assist you if you are currently facing foreclosure on your home.
How have the eviction and foreclosure moratoriums been extended?
The extension of these eviction and foreclosure moratoriums is critical to all those who have incurred significant financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. In his executive order, President Biden has asked the CDC to extend the federal eviction moratorium through at least March 31. The executive order also states that all federally-guarantees mortgages and applications for forbearance will be extended through at least March 31. While this is currently the date, there is reason to believe that eviction and foreclosure moratoriums will be extended even further, as there is currently no end in sight to this pandemic. As a final part of the executive order, the Federal House Finance Agency will extend all foreclosure and eviction moratoriums through at least February 28. If you have any additional questions, would like to learn more about the executive order, or have any other concerns regarding a potential foreclosure on your home, the most important thing you can do is speak with a knowledgeable New York foreclosure defense attorney.
